An Evening in Celebration of International Women's Day with GQ JAPAN
To mark International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2024, the Women’s Pavilion in collaboration with Cartier came together with GQ Japan for a moment of reflection on women empowerment and gender equality.
The Maison resonated with GQ’s latest global campaign “Change is Good” and co-hosted an evening of celebration with two live panels, facilitated by producer Hasen Kuniyama. Both discussions echoed the Women’s Pavilion’s vision of “living together, designing together, for the future”, whilst exploring ideas on how to create a society where people can live freely, inclusively and without prejudice.

The first session titled “What is women empowerment in the next generation? For a society where everyone can play an equal role”, welcomed actor and artist Win Morisaki, Omotete, Inc. CEO Urara Takaseki and GQ Japan’s Head of Editorial Content Jun Ishida.
Participants discussed their respective experiences overseas, the importance of childhood education, and the need for creating a forum to gather diverse voices and share information.
The second session titled “What is a partnership where we shine together?” actor Yoshiyuki Ozawa, writer Mieko Kawakami, data scientist Hiroaki Miyata and Adam Baidawi, British GQ’s Head of Editorial Content discussed the idea of the unnoticed prejudice, equality and fairness, and the difference between sympathy and empathy surrounding gender privilege.
The panel also explored the necessity of equal partnerships, such as acceptance of different ideas and recognizing each individual’s uniqueness as a strength.
